When I first started watching vinyl collector videos and then started building my own dream collection, I made a HUGE mistake. I spent more time looking for the rare albums I remembered and doing business to keep them safe, which I completely neglected, not only because I would play them, but also because of the quality of the sound reproduction . It later occurred to me that I should spend as much time (if not more) learning about stereo systems as I spent choosing the music I chose. Unfortunately, none of the videos I've watched from influential vinyl fans have ever addressed this important topic. Ironically, long gone are the days of rackmount stereos that audiophiles needed in my younger days when I originally collected records. Needless to say, I was at a loss as to how to solve this particular problem. After a few setbacks with personal turntables, I settled on a fairly basic turntable (with a dust cover and headphone jack), a preamp, and a nice set of bookshelf speakers. I chose this player for the above reasons and if I knew what I know now it could save me a lot of time and money. This player has enough sound quality that it can be used without the help of other sound enhancing components. . If you live in an apartment, this is enough to fill your room with quality sound, while the others I tried lacked bass or volume and are virtually useless unless used with headphones. Not so with this player. Although I got the preamps and bookshelf speakers mentioned above, this is better suited when I want to feel the power of a vintage stereo rack. However, rest assured that by purchasing this player as a standalone device, you will be able to listen to your vinyl in a way that will allow you to truly appreciate the music you deserve.
