It repels our cats very well BUT leaves marks on the couch!

This product really works for our two cats. They seem to bounce off the spray and the youngest ones run away when the sprayer shows up to spray the couch. Another cat, although she rarely scratches now, has tried to dig her claw into our new sofa once or twice. I've been spraying it on the sides, back and corners of the sofa as directed for about 10 days now. I am satisfied with the product as it repels cats. BUT. Be careful, this material contains a "soapy" compound (saponified coconut). It left a coating on my couch that's slightly sticky or tacky! I will not squirt anymore. Cats seem pretty used to not scratching, but I can turn to the duct tape that I also bought when I need to keep the scratching at bay. I think it would be possible to make this type of product without saponified oils. ONLY with rosemary, which gives a strong smell. I just don't want a soapy finish on my new couch! I'm a little disappointed! Photos show slight discolouration where I spray painted the sofa taupe/champagne. You can see it best in the photo on the side. The picture of the seat should show what the sofa will look like when it has NOT been sprayed. In general. I take the blame for letting it fade away a bit. This is a light sofa, and this product contains a soap composition. BE CAREFUL if you decide to use it!
