LED elements are very bright. You can place the case quite far from the license plate and still get enough light. Ideal for under seat installation or virtually any custom installation. I installed it all the way under the edge of the seat with the panel installed at the bottom and it looks bright like it came from the factory. If needed, the unit can be trimmed front to back by sanding down the black plastic case, saving up to about 1/2 inch. The switching and wiring are completely housed in the device part under the transparent plastic panel. Also higher quality and better performance than I expected for the price.
