My sister is AFO so she wears this item on her right leg. Because of the AFO, she needs one size larger than her normal shoes. Opening almost to the toes makes it easier to put on and the wide Velcro strap ensures the AFO stays in place. We took the black one so she could wear either shoe on the opposite foot and she was barely noticeable.
