I am shopping at home and wanted to check for mold before bidding. I've been down this path before, and it was a very expensive mistake, so I'm trying not to do it again. Then I noticed they sell a whole house test kit that contains 3 separate tests and it saved me a lot of money so I bought it. The instructions were detailed and easy to understand. I could just take a swab to collect samples for potential home purchases. I casually picked up dust from the door jambs and put the mop back in my pocket. When I get home I'll take a test. Two of the three houses I wanted to bet on tested positive for mold. I labeled each collection tube before meeting my realtor so I knew which house was which. I would spend a lot of time either buying another moldy house or finding out during the inspection and paying the inspector an additional $400 to inspect it for mold. I recommend this to anyone looking to buy a home, or even a homeowner selling a home, to find out if it has mold or not before it goes on the market.
