Review on πŸ’» Thunderbolt Dock Plus Cable F4U109TT by Belkin - 4K Compatible by Mitch Lewis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The ideal docking station for the "home office "

I've tested many of these docks so far (especially with a view to working from home) and this dock offers the "ultimate" experience for those of us with laptops who can benefit (more on that in a moment). The ability to power multiple monitors (especially a 4k or 5k monitor or multiple 4k monitors) means the laptop essentially becomes a desktop. I've tested this dock with several different laptops with mixed results. my Chromebook4 (which I'm writing this review from); I was only able to run one monitor at 1080p (it showed 4k but didn't seem to want to display, possibly due to the Chrome OS). The second monitor doesn't show up, but it's a regular Chromebook. since the docking station costs the same as this laptop; I don't expect a dual 4k workstation from it. Second, I tested it with my GPD Pocket; I was able to get 1 4K monitor at 30Hz or two 1080p monitors at 60Hz (provided the laptop was closed and the internal monitor turned off, otherwise only one monitor worked). I then tested it on my phone and was able to get 1 monitor. works at 4K 60Hz (but the scaling was broken) and the other monitor doesn't show up at all. Worried about testing with my AMD based Acer Nitro as I know it doesn't support USB-C video output so such a dock is useless. With all laptops I test

Pros
  • Always loved
Cons
  • Overheating: If the monitor is not properly ventilated, it can overheat and cause performance issues.
