After my humidifier suddenly stopped working, I called the original installer to have the unit checked out. At first it was said that there was a problem with the power supply and that a new transformer had to be installed. I paid them about $200 for the job and the device worked at first and then stopped working again. After another call they said the humidistat had blown and needed to be replaced. The part was under warranty, but they wanted about $200 to install a replacement part. I asked the manufacturer to ship the part directly to me but they refused, saying they would only issue replacement parts through their authorized network. In short, I'm out of luck. Instead of paying $200 for five minutes of work, I ordered this replacement part to install myself. Everything you need is included. The previous hygrostat was unscrewed with just four screws and this one was installed just as easily. The device worked again immediately. The hygrostat seems more or less identical to the old model, I just hope it lasts a bit longer. All in all, a great alternative that installs with minimal effort. This has been working fine for several months now.
