Review on πŸ’ͺ Powerful and Compact: Kenwood KAC-M3004 4 Channel Digital Amplifier by Leah Ramirez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Small amp, BIG power!

This little amp made me smile! I didn't have much faith that the rating numbers were correct, but it turns out this little bad boy is underrated! I have a SMD Amp Dyno and decided to try this amp in bridged 2 channel mode. That surprised me! @ 4 ohms (bridge) - 150W x 2 @ 14.4V Measured power into 4 ohms (bridge) - 192W x 2 @ 13.93V "Peak Output Power" - 600W Measured RMS dynamic power into 2 ohms (Bridge) - 374 + 357 = 731W! Check out my full video review on YouTube at the BigDWiz channel. I also tested this little amp in 3-channel mode, using 2 channels to 6.5" coax and the other 2 channels to a single 10" MTX Blue Thunder 4 ohm subwoofer were connected. The amp sounded very clean and dynamic. I was playing FLAC files through a Kenwood KMM-BT312U main unit in my instrument boombox. I bought this amp to use in my instrument boombox and was so pleased with its performance that I also ordered a matching 300 watt KDC M3001 monoblock. I'll test it when it comes out and report the results. I don't have reliability statistics as this amp is relatively new to the market. I can say that Kenwood eats its lunch compared to similarly sized amps like the Rockford Fosgate PBR-300x4. PBR is not bridged (also not stable at 2 ohms) and not nearly as flexible as Kenwood. I think Kenwood set the bar for mini amps here. With the same dimensions (aside from the thickness) as my iPhone 6 plus, it's incredible that this little amp can deliver over 700 watts dynamically! Great job Kenwood!
