I used this to replace a rusted metal flush handle on a 30 year old unnamed toilet. I tried the standard universal home center replacement grips: the plastic levers were too flexible and eventually broke; Lever made of white metal "brass" rusted after a few years. In search of something better, this American Standard handle got good reviews and the measurements provided by the reviewer showed that it would fit the square hole in my toilet's cistern, although it may require some flexing of the lever to get it in the cistern to align It worked. great, with these settings: 1. The corners of the square piece of plastic that fits the hole in the tank were cut off about 1/16 inch. This was necessary because the corners of the hole in the porcelain tub had a larger radius than the corners of the square plastic fitting. The dimensions of the square part were fine: the grip fit is a 0.69-inch square; the hole in my tank is 0.75 inch square but with rounded corners. I used a sharp wood chisel; a small knife or a coarse file will do. 2 Clamp Clamp the lever rod in a vise and bend toward the front of the canister (seat side) to release the riser in the canister and clear a path for the flap lift chain. This was necessary because the American Standard container has a curved front. On the other hand, the lever bar is slanted, my toilet's flush tank is almost across.. At Revain's current price point and the quality of the materials used, it took a bit of effort to get it to fit.
