Bad product because of that.

Replacing the toilet handle takes about 3 minutes, not with this thing. 8" but it should be 1/2". I tried to submit it but still couldn't. Also, the bar is at an angle so you have to try to bend it to fit. Too much work for a simple detail and task. As for the price, you can say tear.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Expensive

Works great - finally found one that is METAL and not plastic

Bought this simply because it has a metal lever/lever instead of the typical plastic lever for my American Standard toilet 4266 (Plastic) often breaks). Installed it yesterday and it's working great so far. It is installed in the same way as others for this toilet model. (Note: It comes with a plastic nut/fastener, but NOT a rubber washer - I ended up using the rubber washer I had previously).

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Pretty much everything is ok

Replaces the little pointy grip on the Cadet 3 tank that everyone hates.

This is a great replacement for the grip/lever on #4021 Cadet 3 tanks and others. It fits perfectly in a square hole. My wife had trouble pressing that little pointy button on the A/S Cadet 3 toilet. I used this one as a replacement, you can adjust/bend the brass a bit to the exact shape of the plastic original once it's installed. That had to be installed, not that stupid designer lever with nowhere to press.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Crumpled

Not very functional

I will never buy American Standard again, not even until I buy a new house. It's overpriced for what it's worth and functional please. To be honest all I needed was a 5 cent nut to screw it into the grip. They don't have one, and worse, the nut on this one doesn't match the old handle (literally 1mm difference, no improvement). The metal lever is too long and I had to bend it just to get into the tank. The holes are misaligned and should be facing up/down, not side to side. Well, duct tape has…

Better than plastic grip

It's not designed for this, but it worked in my American Standard 4266 tank - although the lever is a little long. When flushing, it slightly touches the lid inside the tank, but that's not a problem. If you want to make it perfect, you can shorten the lever a bit. This lever is made out of metal as opposed to the actual 4266 tank grip which is made out of scrap metal. Appears to be significantly stronger than the original plastic handle/lever which broke a year after the toilet was installed…

Bombs Off!: Rough Plumbing

Great Flush Lever! I have a Champion 4 two-piece round toilet and the crappy plastic lever broke. Found this one after reading some reviews on plastic levers and I'm glad I chose it. This definitely works on two-piece toilets if you have them. The very first Champion toilets had a metal flush lever, but I think they decided to start economizing to save a few bucks. Shame on American Standard for putting such a piece of crap on an otherwise great toilet. This is the handle that should have been…

Address the situation

Easy installation. We still have our standard 1963 American toilet in the master bathroom. I had to bend a metal handle in a vise to my toilet's specific configuration, but that's to be expected considering there are hundreds or thousands of different designs of toilet today. The construction is heavy. Handle and handle are metal. It feels very durable and should last a very long time. BTW it's made in the USA, I'm making a note of that because it really matters. Most others are made in…

Not just for US standard - with some adjustments

I used this to replace a rusted metal flush handle on a 30 year old unnamed toilet. I tried the standard universal home center replacement grips: the plastic levers were too flexible and eventually broke; Lever made of white metal "brass" rusted after a few years. In search of something better, this American Standard handle got good reviews and the measurements provided by the reviewer showed that it would fit the square hole in my toilet's cistern, although it may require some flexing of the…
