I really appreciate this product. Most windshield mounts are short-lived and seem to lose suction, especially when the windshield gets cold. First I mounted my radar detector under the plate because it seemed that the suction mechanism would block the reception of the detector's signal. It wasn't the best idea. As the car warmed up inside, the adhesive from the Velcro (attached to the radar detector) peeled off the panel and ended up on the dashboard. I remounted the detector on top of the plate and had no problems getting a signal or dropping the detector.
