I originally bought this product to cut wire, but it is most commonly used to cut plastic cable jackets. The fact that it can cut plastic film without scratching the object holding the film is a great feature. It also keeps the cut zip tie from flying away, although sometimes it doesn't compress the zip tie enough to prevent it from flying away.
