Constant grain size and distribution. Works wet or dry.

Good, well-compounded 5000 grit sandpaper. This sandpaper works both wet and dry, but with that high sand content, wet with a friction modifier like dish soap - that's when it really shines. (Double pun intended.) Whether you're finishing sanding a clear coat before final buffing or buffing, or chipping off burrs after polishing 2500 grit stainless steel, this paper works well. Leaves only the tiniest swirl mark. Assuming you've correctly passed every grit level before it. You can easily buff to a highly polished wet chrome finish. Everything in this paper is well put together. The back printing is crisp and easy to read, the paper surface is thick enough to remain strong but still thin enough to feel the contours of the part you are working with, and the grit will remain even with heavy sanding pressure in place. I would recommend this sandpaper to anyone looking to go beyond 2500-3000. My only caveat is that at this grit it clogs almost immediately if you try to jump from too fine a grit. For example, if you finish sanding with a 1000 grit, switch to 5000. In this case, you'll be hammering that 5000 grit about twice as fast as if you sanded with a 3000 grit first instead. It's not the fault of the sandpaper, I just want people to know that you'll find it easier if you work your way through the grit step by step. Although it may seem more expensive at first, you will find that the price of sandpaper increases as the grit increases. So it is better to burn cheaper paper with smaller grit (200 400 800 1000) before switching to more expensive paper with higher grit. You can usually find several packs of lower grit paper for a very reasonable price and then use the higher grit paper for the final finish. In the long run you will save money and the end result will be more even. For final, fine-grained, wet, hand-sanded surfaces. This 5000 grit paper is great with warm water and a few drops of dish soap.

Pros
  • Paper contains 30% French blue latex to prevent accidental curling, folding and tearing.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
