Fairly flexible, inexpensive Latex Silicon Carbide

This is the final step in fine polishing surfaces that polish well, although finer grits are available for some applications. Some people use it to remove mineral deposits on glass, although this can leave very small scratches that are difficult to see under normal conditions. Use it dipped in some soapy water and you will get fewer scratches. Resistant to cracking, can be rolled tightly and even folded for use on a block without breaking. The abrasive adheres well to paper. Can be used wet…

Pros
  • This item is excellent for buffing, grinding, buffing, feathering, sharpening and emery.
Cons
  • Very Expensive

Although this 5000 grit is listed for finishing metal jewelry, I decided to try it on my car(s). I have an antique car that I am restoring. I used 200, 400, 600 and 1000 grit - and to finish off the painting (intermediate coat, 14 cans of paint, let the paint sit for a week until it "cures") I wiped and polished. Compound, and then I tried 5000 grit on a small trimming surface (wet with lots of soap and very slow side to side motion). Oh what a delight to see a self painted finish come to life!

Pros
  • sandpaper sheets are strong and flexible.
Cons
  • Can't remember

Constant grain size and distribution. Works wet or dry.

Good, well-compounded 5000 grit sandpaper. This sandpaper works both wet and dry, but with that high sand content, wet with a friction modifier like dish soap - that's when it really shines. (Double pun intended.) Whether you're finishing sanding a clear coat before final buffing or buffing, or chipping off burrs after polishing 2500 grit stainless steel, this paper works well. Leaves only the tiniest swirl mark. Assuming you've correctly passed every grit level before it. You can easily buff…
