I bought this soldering iron set to solder a mechanical keyboard. I had an old Radio Shack soldering iron with no temperature controller or stand and figured soldering switches on a circuit board was going to be a horrible time with something so old and lowly. The iron heats up quickly and the temperature seemed fine, but I didn't. I have no way of directly testing how accurate the temperature control is. This made soldering about 100 switches on my keyboard board pretty quick and easy. I've only used it once but so far it's worked well and is just what I needed. I had no issues with cold connections, and the tip I used quickly heated up the pads. The brass wool worked like magic cleaning the soldering iron tip after every few connections and I didn't use a sponge as brass wool is generally better for the iron. My only real complaint is that the soldering spool holder doesn't seem to attach properly unless I've done it wrong. Screwed to the side of the soldering station, it does not close flush with the table top and is therefore practically useless.
