I have a solar system in my RV, but the inverter only gives me a bar graph light meter that shows the total percentage of energy being drawn from the battery. So I installed this on my battery and was surprised. It showed me exactly how much current was being drawn from the batteries. As I turned various devices on and off on the bus, I knew exactly how much energy they were using. And I was surprised by several discoveries! It's well worth the cost and installation time.

Using two of these; one to control the solar panel charging rate from the charge controller to the battery, the other to control our use of the 12v battery. Both ammeters are installed in our camper next to the solar charge controller. A small downside, they have to be at eye level to be readable. Mine are at knee height so I tilted them (see photo). So they are readable. For me, that's not the main thing, so I still rate it highly and recommend it to others.

This is an easy to read display. Seems a fairly accurate measurement compared to analog gauges, it's complementary. The instructions are easy to follow and the shunt is very easy to connect. If you are working with larger strands I highly recommend using ring terminals to prevent the wires from slipping off the studs. Required to check performance. Great device for the price. The error is about 3-5% compared to a real RMS meter. So if accuracy isn't too critical then it's great. I bought three of these. A pair of meters is connected to the same shunt for both charging and discharging, as shown in the supplier's diagram. The third counter measures only the summary of the solar panel charging data. If the sum of the two charging counters Wh is equal to or greater than the discharging counter Wh, then the batteries have not lost any capacity. Great value. Voltage readings are amazingly accurate, within 0.03V of a calibrated Fluke 87 III. I have not verified the current measurement accuracy. I would give it a one star rating for a number of reasons. The gauge is supplied without a connection cable and it would be ideal if this were not the case as it would be difficult to adapt to all installations.
