I usually spend 4-6 hours at a time in a kayak and this shoe is flexible enough to go barefoot so I can put my feet in any position on long hikes. The sole is durable so my feet don't get wet when I step on the water's edge when dismounting or disembarking. The shoe opens wide to make it easier to put on and the Velcro closure closes it tightly. There isn't much support, however, but it's good enough for short distances or to get you off the boat in your best pair of walking shoes. I also wear women's sports shoes 8.5, but size 8.5 turned out to be too big. Size 7.5 was perfect and fits both barefoot and with a thin sock for warmth.
