Review on πŸ“» Uniden BC72XLT Handheld Scanner: Compact and Powerful in Sleek Black Design by Matt Jenkins

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Decent scanner for little money, limited frequencies

Honestly the only reason I bought this is because of my two Radio Shack scanners with "Signal Stalker" when the feature on both is gone would work. I repaired both once under warranty, then the second again under warranty. The Pro 97 SS stopped working again and they charged $20 to send it in for repair before telling me how much the repair would cost. So I just bought this scanner because of its "Close Call" feature which is the "Signal Stalker" RS. It wasn't until I put it in my cart and paid for it that I realized it didn't cover anything beyond the 400 range. Mistake on my part. Considering that here in my area the police, fire department and sheriffs do nothing on the freeway or at higher frequencies, this is normal for a car. I'll say that, it's louder than any of my other scanners. There is no CSTSS, the frequencies are limited and only 100 channels, which does not even use all the possibilities of the business band. The Close Call function works no better than RS scanners and is difficult to program. Good backup or for a car. You get what you pay for. I thought Uniden would be much better. Who knows? It couldn't break.
