Review on 💻 Industrial Isolated USB to RS232/RS485/TTL Converter with FT232RL Inside, Aluminium Alloy Enclosure, Power/ADI Magnetic Isolation, and TVS Diode by Sean Davis

I bought this specifically to monitor the UART output of my DUT during the ESD test. It worked mostly (there were a few USB failures but could be unplugged/replugged to fix the problem) up to 15kV. I did a 15kV test and started getting garbage from the Waveshare terminal. My DUT's UART output still works with another UART receiver. Cycling the current did not fix this problem (at 15kV at lower voltages I've seen trips recovering after cycling the current). The description says "lightning protection and anti-electrostatic" but it is obvious that this means nothing. Aside from that critical design flaw, it seemed to work.
