Review on Panasonic KX-TSC11B Corded Phone, Black with Caller ID by Hector Liamsi

Decent phone Total

I bought this phone to wall mount in the kitchen. I've been using an old GE wall phone for about 15 years and decided it was time for an upgrade. I don't use phones at home anymore, I like it when most people use cell phones as it's a phone first and foremost. But I still like calling home from my phone, and it's a good fallback just in case. I have a phone line through a VoIP company (Ooma). I've had good luck with Panasonic cordless phones in the past, the only brand I buy anymore; cordless phones are simply the best there. I have never owned a Panasonic wired phone and assumed the quality and design would be as good as the Panasonic cordless models. Overall, the phone's design and performance is decent. The phone is well weighted and feels good in the hand. The buttons are rubber, they are easy to press and they are big. I hung this phone on the wall, but it can also stand horizontally. The installation wasn't difficult, the handset stays on the hook well. The phone's sound quality is generally good. The phone has an LCD display that shows the date and time, caller ID capabilities, stored phone numbers, etc. The display is poor and difficult to read, probably because it doesn't have a backlight. Another oddity of the phone is that the LCD functions won't work unless a couple of AA batteries are installed in the base. The LCD display and functions are not powered by the power supplied to the phone through the phone line. The battery compartment is on the back of the phone under the wall bracket! Removing the phone from the wall, removing the wall bracket to access the battery cover, and changing the batteries is quite a hassle.
