Review on Xiaomi Mijia Rotary Electric Shaver by Kiyoshi Sagae ᠌

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Low quality, I will not buy this anymore.

Previously, I used the Panasonic ES-LV61 foil shaver for a long time. I would like to try shaving with a rotary razor. I was aware of the features and disadvantages of rotary shavers in advance, and was ready for the experiment. Slightly embarrassed by the involvement of Remington in the development of this razor. Still, rifles in the 19th century were much better than razors in the 20th century. Impressions immediately after the first use: design, unusual and stylish; uncomfortable ergonomics, although you can adapt to it; an extremely inconvenient cleaning process after shaving - the block of knives does not recline, but is hardly torn off from the head, there is a risk of damage. The process of getting used to the ergonomics of the razor blades, and the skin to the rotary blades lasted about two weeks. A month later, it was time for the first evaluations. The duration of the shave has increased compared to the foil razor from 3-4 minutes to 6-10 minutes. The cleanliness of the shave was significantly inferior to the mesh razor and corresponded to that of the Soviet rotary razors Kharkov and Berdsk. Even immediately after shaving, there was minimal stubble on the skin. Although there was a positive moment - the number of hairs ingrown into the epidermis has become much less. One battery charge is enough for a week of daily shaving, which is typical for modern electric shavers. Unfortunately, that's where the positive impressions ended. Literally chenez 3-4 months arose and began to increase the vibration of the shaving head. This is due to 2 design defects - the weakening of flat metal springs in the suspension of "floating" knives and the rapid wear of the five-sided heads of the knife drive shafts. Self-repair in the form of soft pads on the heads of the drive shafts gave an incomplete and short-lived effect in the fight against vibration. The quality of shaving has decreased even more within six months. As a result, a year after the purchase, I had to abandon this razor and purchase the Philips AT890, which wins by an order of magnitude in all respects. My conclusion is: not recommended for purchase. Xiaomi doesn't know how to make electric shavers yet.

Pros
  • design Xiaomi brand (very subjective and not for everybody) water resistance
Cons
  • extremely poor shave quality controversial ergonomics sacrificed for design ill-conceived shaving head design extremely low shaving head life inconvenience of cleaning the shaving head
