I bought the PG279QM to replace my PG279Q. In my opinion, the display looks much better on the PG279QM. Colors are richer and blacks are darker. The gameplay looks really good and is very smooth. Viewing angles are decent, but you may notice a slight drop in quality at different angles depending on what you're looking at. The edges and corners of the screen itself are slightly dimmer/darker. It gets worse depending on the angle. However, I believe this issue is specific to similar panels and I've read several reviews mentioning the same thing on this model, including their replacements. So I think it's ok for the PG279QM but it's a downgrade from the previous PG279Q. The PG279QM's menu buttons are easy to use but very clunky, which is a downgrade over the PG279Q. Backlight wise my first set had a pretty bad BLB but I ordered another one and the second one was great. BLB is barely visible, just a very faint glow. All in all, this is a good monitor. worth $900? Probably no. This is a premium price for a standard experience. Slightly better than PG279Q but slightly worse. I will keep it because I need a monitor. I'm happy with the features and most importantly the overall experience, but the overall quality definitely needs improvement to justify the price. When reading reviews, also pay attention to which model they are for, as reviews sometimes list ratings for different monitors.
