Review on Kutir Retractable Measuring Tape Measure: The Perfect Tool for Accurate Measurements by Ross Decoteau

Defective Working Tape

This tape is good but has problems with quality control of construction. I bought it because it measures both imperial and metric measurements on both sides of the band. It has markings for mm, cm and meters in the metric system. It outlines 1/32, 1/8, 1/4 inches and marks the pitch in feet and feet in inches and 16 inches for hairpins. Text is clear and easy to read. It has good strong magnets on the end for attaching to metal surfaces. The withdrawal is powerful and works well. The lock feature works but is a bit sluggish when locking and unlocking the band; It takes a little more effort to attach the tape than is typical of most tape measures I've used. The downside is the design. The outer black rubber case is too big and doesn't fit snugly into the yellow plastic interior (it's like the yellow plastic case is medium sized, but it's wearing an XL black rubber shirt). The black rubber would just fall off if it wasn't attached to the yellow plastic interior with a single screw holding the metal belt clip. The black rubber outer cover folds, flexes and pops at the edges, and it's clear that it can snag on things. It's annoying enough and it's clear that this will be a long-term problem and will probably force me to just cut it off. It could also be a lockdown feature and given the unusual tightness, that could also pose a problem in the long run. This is a good roulette in terms of information and basic features that earned it one star. Unfortunately, these great features are undermined by poorly executed cosmetic and design features. It's hard to say I would buy it again, but now I'm going to learn to live with these issues.
