For a GoPro or Sony FDR-X3000 with such a heavy battery, it offers a solid grip and sets up very quickly in seconds. I wouldn't use it for anything heavier than maybe the Zoom H4n recorder. It would be perfect if it was black. [Edit: October 27, 2017] I bought another one to have on hand. I needed this last weekend so I finally opened the package. Ouch! Someone forgot to thread this! Completely unusable (and past the return date). I think I was reminded that while OnStage makes a lot of nifty little gimmicks, their quality control (or lack thereof) keeps their prices down. A star on docking. I would give 2 stars but didn't check when I received it.
