I've been looking for an economical code scanner to replace a basic OBD2 reader for some time. This gadget fully meets my needs. It not only reads and sets the engine, but also the transmission, ABS, SRS and other diagnostic codes, even oil codes, EPB, SAS, TPMS and throttle bodies, injector codes. My Audi A6 had an erroneous "Check Engine" code for weeks. I used this scanner to identify code P-0455. After checking the causes on the websites, I figured it might be one of the problems caused by a loose or leaking gas cap, a faulty or stuck vent valve, or a vent control valve. After researching several articles on the forums, I found and verified that this is due to a leaking purge valve. A simple fix back then was that I bought a new valve and had it replaced in my garage for less than $20. I could have spent 20 or 30 times more money sending it to the dealer to fix this problem. This scanner will be my new service tool for my two sons A6 and Jetta.
