Bought for use with fold down luggage racks on my Ford Excursion. I installed it upside down as per the instructions as I didn't want to create leverage when the post was lifted from the bottom of the receiver. It stopped traffic and rattling, but with the 5' x 2' rack, it was difficult to get between it and the trucks for installation. Overall I recommend it if you don't plan on putting it on and off every day. Used it to travel from Long Island, NY to southern Maryland, and even on NYC's "wonderful" roads, which are known for gobbling up small cars, the device worked very well.
