Review on Say Goodbye To Messy Microwaves: Protect Your Food With ZFITEI'S Microwave Splatter Cover by Chad Sorensen

One of the reviewers said she left it stuck to the top of the microwave and it caused a small fire, then gave the lid a low review. Well, considering the item description very clearly stated that's EXACTLY what will happen if you leave it stuck to the top, you cant really fault the product for that. I have children who are barely teenagers and I feel like no matter how many times I could say nor do do that, they would forget. So I just made it simple and went with the non magnetic cover.Pro- it is a large size. It covers almost the entire turning plate in the microwave, so it should cover most dishes and/or plates.It is easy to wash. (We do not have a dishwasher so I cannot attest to whether or not it is a really dishwasher safe.)Vents and curved sides allow steam to escape but not too much to where the food becomes dry.Cons-The raised center where you are supposed to pick up the lid is way too short. With my nails, it is impossible to get a grasp on the lid. And my nailsre not excessively long either. I also had my husband yet it and he was barely able to grip it either. So when I used it just now I had to lift the cover from the side, which gave me a pretty good steam burn. Again, not too safe for the kids either.As it is quite large it's not very space efficient, so it will likely just stay in the microwave. This con is not quite that big of a deal for me, but some others may want to store it elsewhere.I used it tonight for three minutes and it became VERY hot. The max time says 5 minutes but with as hot as it became after 3, I worry 5 minutes may melt it.Overall, three out of five stars. Not great but not awful. We will see how it hold up though.EDIT: I came home today to a new cover! The one with magnets which has MUCH more room for your fingers to grab! It seems the company sent it to me after seeing my review as I have not recieved any emails from them. There was a receipt in the package that said they care about their customers feedback, and they hope I will be satisfied. The instruction sheet says this is an updated version with better ceramic magnets, and it also said that this one can be used for up to 10 minutes. It can cover plates up to 11.5 inches!So in terms of customer service, I have to give them 5 stars. I appreciate that they care enough about their customers to listen to their complaints, even for items seemingly as simple as this. This one is much easier to hold as I said, I'll just have to drill it into the kids heads that they cannot use it when its stuck to the top, it has to be covering the food. Changing review to 5 stars!Another update- after using it for a few days it is MUCH better than the other one. It doesnt get nearly as hot as the other one. The kids have used it and it was simple for them to use, and no one got burned. Thanks again for the replacement!
