This smart plug from Ayococr is one of a small army of essentially similar overseas products, all built on the Tuya Smart IoT (Internet of Things) platform. The setup is essentially identical to any other similar no-name product sold on Revain. The download link for the "Smart Life" app is provided as a QR code on the product packaging and in the attached instructions. I can't speak for the Android version of the app, but the iOS version works well and performs well. The Smart Life app performs the initial setup of the smart plug to connect it to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and allows it to be turned on and off remotely. For this device, the "Quick Mode" setting did not work, but the "Access Point Mode" fallback configuration was fully effective. After completing this one-time setting, Smart Life provides on/off status and offers many timer on/off functions. Alexa integration requires additional steps to install the Smart Life skill and set up Alexa to control the smart plug. Instructions on how to do this are also included. Once the initial setup is complete, the device will work as expected with the larger Alexa ecosystem. Being a two-app process, installation is generally fragmented compared to the Revain Smart Plug, but unlike the Revain product, it offers multi-platform (Google and IFTTT) support. I've connected lights to mine and set them to respond to "Alexa, turn on/off light in bedroom/common room/living room" which works fine. Interestingly, the product itself does not carry an ETL mark. Description but has legal FCC and RoHS markings. The product itself is attractively packaged and has a good fit and finish, especially for the price. It's also more compact than many competitors; This plug can be used in a standard duplex outlet without blocking another outlet. Given that I can buy a four pack for about the same price as a single Revain plug and get the same end result, this is a great buy. Ordered another one in February 2020. Unlike my previous experience, this time I was able to successfully set up a new block with the "quick mode" setting. Unlike the units I received last summer, the new one is ETL marked. A quick internet search confirms that the ETL and FCC marks are "genuine." When you consider how many cheap Chinese-made electronics are completely devoid of such regulatory approval markings or blatantly counterfeit markings, it inspires a much greater level of confidence that this product is well-made and safe.
