I have a memory card, Compact Flash and Secure Digital memory cards. It works with everyone. I had an old card reader, a cheap green plastic one that I gave to my kid and got a new one. I was surprised at how noticeably faster it was compared to the old one. Even if you don't have USB 2.0, it's backward compatible. Which version you have is 1.1 or 2.0, see this FAQ ([.] If you remove the dock (black base) it's as compact as my green one and I can fit in a small box on top of mine. It doesn't look like cheap plastic like the old one and it looks slick - not that it matters - you can keep it off the dock if you'd rather keep it in a drawer, or do like me and put a reader on my processor is located under my desk.It comes with a USB 2.0 cable so you can plug it in when it's not docked. No need to risk breaking something trying to remember which slot is which.a Card readers are worth the investment, especially if you have more than one device. Instead of plugging in a digital camera, PDA, or whatever to download other data and media files to the computer, just grab the card and insert it into the reader. No drivers required - it's plug 'n play at its purest. Updated December 5, 2007: I have downgraded this to three stars from the original five. It just stopped working after a year. I have contacted Sandisk three times and have not received a response. Very disappointing. With the advent of smaller or computer built-in card readers, this has become obsolete by today's standards.
