Just a minor annoyance.

Trivial actually, but my *only* problem is that it takes up four drive letters when plugged in. It's not like I really need that drive letter, it just makes the My Computer lists a bit cluttered. But other than that, this reader is great. It took me longer to get the reader out of its packaging (that plastic shell) than it did to set it up. Literally just plugged it in, XP recognized it and within seconds it was up and running. So far I've used CompactFlash and SD memory cards with great…

Roasted once by me after work

UPDATE: After thinking about this incident for a while I thought it might actually be MY fault the reader got roasted. Folks, be very careful when unplugging a USB device like this - don't just pull it out of the slot. Use the system tray icon to "Safely Remove Hardware". I'm usually VERY careful with this, but it's possible I've been careless in my efforts to get the reader to work. So please take this into account. My other comments on slots in the reader still stand. ***** I bought one of…

Good but Bad Map Placement

I bought this with a SanDisk Extreme III 2GB SD card. When the card is properly seated in this reader, the performance is very high. The difficulty is to put the card in its place. The only card I'm having problems with is the SanDisk Extreme, so you might be tempted to say it's a card problem, but this card works very well on every other device I have (Camera, Palm and Wolverine). I will contact SanDisk for service but given the price I'm not sure if any shipping changes needed would be worth…

Fast, portable and convenient. if it works

I have a memory card, Compact Flash and Secure Digital memory cards. It works with everyone. I had an old card reader, a cheap green plastic one that I gave to my kid and got a new one. I was surprised at how noticeably faster it was compared to the old one. Even if you don't have USB 2.0, it's backward compatible. Which version you have is 1.1 or 2.0, see this FAQ ([.] If you remove the dock (black base) it's as compact as my green one and I can fit in a small box on top of mine. It doesn't…

Very comfortable, universal reader for almost everything digital.

Some have complained that this device is rubbish, but in my opinion it is a well designed reader/writer that is at the top of its class. It comes with a nice standalone desktop dock and a large USB cable for your main PC, no matter what operating system you use. It also comes with a short mini-USB cable that you can use with the compact readhead to connect to most PCs or MACs you'll encounter on the go. several photo editing programs and a Win/Mac driver that offers "features" such as file…

Small, versatile and worth every penny. UPDATE 14 FEBRUARY 2010

After some experience with different media I needed a fast and flexible way to get data and pictures on my MAC G4. I found Imagemate and it's great. I use it for my Sony camcorder memory cards, my nephew's mini PSP memory duo, my Nikon digital camera SD card, my Palm SD card. It has a stand that looks good on my desk without taking up much space, about 2 x 3 inches, but I'm not sure because I don't use it to save space (not weight) in my laptop backpack. It holds the Imagemate upright and comes

A must-have for all digital camera and music player owners

SanDisk has long been a well-known manufacturer of flash memory and related devices. Flash memory cards are now part of almost all electronic devices that store user data. From digital cameras to digital music players (even cell phones), these devices record their data onto flash memory cards. The SanDisk SDDR-89-A15 is one of the products in the "ImageMate" series of memory readers. This is a 12-in-1 reader that integrates seamlessly with your PC. No drivers are required to connect this device

Pros
  • There's Something Inside

Ordered on Tuesday, asked for free super saver shipping, was supposed to be dispatched in a week, received only 2 days later! So, 10 stars to Amazon for the amazingly fast free shipping! Well, for the reader. I took off a star not because of the short extra USB cable (that can be considered a travel plus as others have pointed out) but because the damn thing is wobbly! The pedestal it stands on has too small a base and the handles are not very good. The consequence of this is that the device…
