Review on Nikon PROSTAFF 5 Binocular: Advanced Optics for Enhanced Viewing Experience by Lisa Adams

Great high performance binoculars for less money and lighter weight

They are great, I've tried two other Nikon binoculars in the last year and I think they're absolutely the best for my needs. First let me say that I use my optics for spot hunting in the West. I bought the new 8X42 Sharks last year and have been very happy with them throughout the 2014 season. Eventually, my desire for a more powerful set grew so I wouldn't have to lug my scope around as much. So I sold my sharks and bought Nikon 12x50 Extremes. They had great looks and were good value for money until I found them a bit more expensive. Comparing the weights, I was amazed that the simpletons were almost twice as light and a lot less bulky. I sent the extreme back and was happy with it. If you look at Nikon, you should seriously deal with suckers, if you don't have money for monarchs, this is the best place for you. Extremes are great, but when you go camping with binoculars or need to carry one with all your other hunting gear, prostaffs are unbeatable. I also tried to sweat and couldn't, it was a big problem with my sharks on cold mornings. For the combination of performance and lens, they cost a lot more than what you pay.

Pros
  • Beautiful
Cons
  • Good but not great
