Disappointment on mandolins

I used a mandolin at a friend's house when I was helping to cook a meal a few years ago and it cut up potatoes, carrots and parsnips with no problem. So I really wanted to try Cuisipro's. This one only worked with a few softer veggies with a pair of blades. I've had very positive results slicing cucumbers and zucchini, and the blade that cuts creases and waffles worked on those two veggies too. But even for these items, the julienne blade was not sharp enough and simply mush them up, otherwise they would fall into the blades. The tomatoes just smashed against the cutter blade, as did the oranges, which were only partially cut. Potatoes and carrots were difficult to cut. Some didn't cut at all, and the rest I couldn't get a consistent size or shape. Most just stuck in the blades, and a few cut fingers tried to dislodge them. The grater blade worked on some medium-hard cheeses. The mandolin came with two countertop stickers that were so firmly attached that I had to use Goo Gone and lots of elbow grease to remove them. The blades are stored in the main unit to save space, but with the exception of the julienne blade, they are difficult to remove. It came with no storage pouch or box, which is really necessary as the blades, while not as sharp as many tough veggies require, are sharp enough to cut your hands or fingers. I am disappointed in this product. I will use it for slicing cucumbers, zucchini and other similar textured veggies, but at this price point I wouldn't recommend it for limited use. The pattern has been provided for testing and review.
