I am new to TIG welding at the Los Angeles College of Trade and Technology and am about to complete my bachelor's degree in welding. most machines and it worked fine. I bought this kit because I want to specialize in TIG welding and am excited to work with exotic metals. In class I tested this kit on a Lincoln Precision TIG 275 with a wp20 water cooled torch. I have been welding 3/32" aluminum and used green tip tungsten-tungsten tubing. In traditional welding jobs I have always noticed a reddish color around the tungsten as electricity ionizes the argon. The red color was due to uneven flow , which usually disappeared. A different current is applied, so it takes a bit more current to get to the "best spot". I've never seen this reddish color with a gas lens. The gas flow was perfect even at low currents evenly around the tungsten.It also helped a bit with arc stability and protected the weld pool well.Closer or normal offset, the arc is very stable and doesn't wander as much.This product is amazing.It won't make you a better welder. But if you plan to do a lot of TIG welding, buy it now But it gives you the opportunity to weld more types of metals (big ones Beakers I think for Titanium, Stainless Steel, Chromium Molybdenum etc), being able to weld in hard to reach places is a little bit easier, and it makes your welds more stable as the gas flow is constant.
