I like them because they really hold the water scoops.
As a ship mechanic, I have probably used every available earmuff/earmuff. I like them because they really hold on to the water intakes and I'm not afraid they'll fall off like metal when I flush the engine. The connecting part of the hose with internal thread is also firmly connected to the coupling. It will not burst under high water pressure. The plastic U-piece seems sturdy enough, with the added bonus that it won't stain in storage - yes, stainless steel can and often does.
