So I bought this RTL-SDR dongle for the Raspberry Pi project to track plane flights (RTL_TCP/PlanePlotter). This works great with the included antenna (unless you have other high gain antennas). I could track planes at 40,000 feet. About 30 planes were captured during the night. (I live within 10 miles of the airport and in the middle of the US. An added bonus was that I found a web app in Chrome called "Radio" that works on my Chromebook Acer R11. This web app allows me to do that Tune into local FM broadcast plus many other options You can set the app to "FT" Free Tune and with the dongle plugged in you can tune your local HAM repeaters to the popular 2m/70cm bands, however I use one Homemade 1/4 wave antenna Ideal for surveillance only!I might buy another dongle when I build my CARpi.
