Review on Stone Lain Coupe Dinnerware Set: Service for 4, Elegant Black Matte Design by Christopher Gulledge

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Attention buyers! Too many flaws!

I bought 16 sets of dishes; which came in 4 boxes; I unpacked 2 boxes right away. They were well packaged and I was very satisfied. The design was modern and attractive; The utensils looked solid. As I pushed the plate across the counter to the sink, it scratched the natural stone countertop. My counters were immune to damage from heat, water, and scratches from pots, pans, cookware, and my old utensils; until now. Most plates have rough, unfinished, unglazed "rings" on the underside. Some appeared to have grains of sand with raw, sharp edges inserted into "rings". (Update: I checked 2 other boxes and they were the same.) Also, one mug arrived with a broken handle and many of the dishes had imperfections such as chips covered in icing, "holes" in the icing, bulges or "bubbly". Stains etc. I may overlook minor imperfections and consider sanding the floors to make them smooth but even at the retail price I am concerned the quality will be poor and I may get the chips described by other reviewers. Supplier Revain explained that quality control is an important issue in China. A supplier order can be split between several different factories; some may have excellent quality control and others no quality control at all. Suppliers who produce in China save money, but their products can suffer from quality fluctuations. Some buyers want products that are made in the US, so I've noticed that some sellers say their products are "designed" in the US to hide that they are made in China. Deficiencies in quality also affect ratings. You can read great reviews from other buyers and then end up with a poorly made product and wonder why so many people have written good reviews. I'll call the seller, return the dishes or give them to someone who doesn't mind the problem. In any case, buyers should be aware of potential problems.
