At first I thought that the reading light didn't want to work, but it needs a soft and slightly longer press to turn on. Everything else works as advertised, and I am getting a weather band station to come in fairly good even inside the house which is tough to do. This is a large light, not something you tuck into a back pack. The battery indicator goes down to three each time I turn it on, but when I plug it in it says full. So I cannot vouch for battery life at this point because I have not run it down. The hand cranks I have I have found are pretty useless unless you want to spend all day cranking for one bar. I have not set it out into the sun (we haven't had much of that here in the northeast lately) to see how well he solar panel works, but I would think not too great either unless charged for several days. I have several portable power bricks I check regularly to make sure they are full, so I am not too worried about charging this up if necessary during a prolonged outage. I would think that everybody is somewhat prepared with rechargeable LED lights and radios and of course batteries aside nonperishable food, but several years ago, when we had a disastrous ice storm that knocked out the power for weeks in many areas, it became painfully evident that most people are NOT prepared.
