Review on πŸ”Œ High-Performance USB C to DisplayPort Adapter - 8K/5K/4K Video Converter for Thunderbolt 3 Compatible Monitors - StarTech.com CDP2DP14B by Yung Kitamura

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Almost perfect and definitely what I need for some of my display software to work properly

I have a BenQ PD3200Q monitor (love that thing!) that came with a good setup software called Display Pilot (by Portrait Displays, Inc.). I used the HDMI input on the monitor because my laptop doesn't have DisplayPort connectors, it has a USB-C and a TB3 connector, I just didn't have a TB3 -> DP cable. I've also used another StarTech product (VS421HD4KA 4-Port HDMI Auto Video Switcher) to display my OTB device, NAS display, Raspberry Pi, etc., and while I recommend it too if you need it, I have found that the software The Display Pilot cannot fully interact with the monitor. enough. It could detect what monitor I had but couldn't show levels or change color modes and a few other things. I opened a ticket with portrait displays but never got a reply even though I got a software update today so I can double check. But this adapter works great. I only have a DP->mini DP cable so it goes TB3->StarTech adapter->miniDP input and because it doesn't go through the HDMI switch the display pilot software works again and I have to it doesn't make setup adjustments using the onscreen menus (which is also good) or the puck that BenQ gives you for hotkeys. I gave it 4 stars overall because I wanted the "tail" on this adapter to be either detachable or slightly longer.
