The socket turned into a shop lamp

This guy has options. Our house is about 40 years old. We have many of these traditional E26 sockets in utility rooms - in the attic, pantry, garage and basement. These lights are a great way to update the lighting in these spaces. You have the choice of how you want the light to fall, as well as the focus on a specific area. We have some limited spaces like our attic where this light is perfect. There are not many sockets, so there is very little light with a conventional light bulb. This light screws in like a regular lightbulb, but works like an LED work light. I can manipulate the direction of the light to hit areas of the workspace that would otherwise require an additional torch, flashlight, or headlamp. Now that I have this light I can turn it on and see the whole area without a flashlight. I have replaced the lightbulbs with these in all our outlets. This is the best bit of light ingenuity I've encountered in a long time. My wife asked for them to be placed throughout the basement as well. She said they are so bright and that one of them gives more light than all previous bulbs combined. My wife said it transformed our basement from a dank dungeon into a well-lit pantry and laundry room. I've found directional lighting to be perfect for working on projects in the garage. I usually arrange the light so that it illuminates the whole room. But when I'm working on a project, I love the fact that I can move the light around to focus on my task. Again, there is no need to pull out additional lighting. My advice: stock up enough to replace all the bulbs. They reduce your energy costs because they are powered; Upgrade your lighting without having to connect more lights; and reduce the need for short-term supplemental lighting for large spaces or small projects.
