It was blue tape as directed. However, it is definitely not the best option to protect the room while painting. We had to apply four coats of paint to each wall and remove the tape within a week of application. Unfortunately the paint seeped under the tape and stained our baseboards and when the paint cured the tape stuck to the baseboard. So in order to make the film, we had to work it out. At this point I'm disappointed that so much paint bled underneath and plan on never buying the brand again. We have tried several cleaners to remove paint from baseboards but to no avail. Now I'm going to try the nail polish remover. wish us luck
