I bought this meter to record aircraft noise over our house in preparation for a lawsuit. It was accurate. It's useful to be able to see the audio level fluctuations, but I particularly like the button that lets you see only the maximum as the level increases. This meter is inexpensive and much more accurate than the sound meter in the phone app. I tested my phone app alongside this meter and my phone was often 20dB higher than the meter. Common sense told me that overhead planes weren't 95 decibels every time, but a handheld meter was more accurate at 65-74 decibels, depending on plane type and altitude. Thanks to the readings of this meter and hundreds of videos of the aircraft noise chronicle, we have won a lawsuit against the man who sold us our house and we are leaving here.
