Review on πŸ”§ MotoRad 7244-192 Fail-Safe Engine Thermostat by Xiaomeng Chang

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Light Duty Suitable

If you live in a northern climate this thermostat will do what it's supposed to do, it won't "open" when the heat gets too hot. I installed two of these in a 1999 Dodge 3500 RoadTrek van and towed a heavy trailer through the Texas heat. It was too much for this thermostat when the coolant temperature reached 125-130 degrees and the thermostats failed twice. I'm sure they would be fine in a cooler environment. It would be nice if they specified what temperature they would be "fail safe" at and if they made different models at different temperatures. I liked the safety aspect but if they fail there is no heat in winter and the engine runs at around 125 degrees! I went back to the Mopar thermostat.

Pros
  • Installation Type: Vehicle Specific
Cons
  • Light Serviceability
