I paid less than $40 for this with 4 diamond stones. Unless you have mechanical skills, you shouldn't be sharpening your knife anyway. But if you have some basic skills then this is a decent sharpener. Take some 400 grit sandpaper on the caster and add some mineral oil, 3-in-1 oil, or sewing machine oil. Also lubricate the plastic ball and screws that are frequently loosened/tightened. Stones take some time to break in. They seem rough for the first sharpenings. After all that you have a very capable pencil sharpener.
