Review on MEZOOM Refillable Conditioner 🌱 Toiletries: Enhancing Accessibility and Sustainability by Nathan Barraclough

Revainrating 2 out of 5

No silicone as stated in the product description; Also not sealed

The hose is made of medium-hard plastic, NOT silicone as stated in the product description (below). MEZOOM did not respond to my report of misrepresenting their product marketing describing these hoses as silicone and my suggestion that the mention of silicone be removed. I bought these hoses on purpose because they were described as silicone. MEZOOM have since changed their product description to include the phrase "Material: Polyethylene Plastic" in the description, but they also continue to advertise these tubes as a "Silicone Travel Bottle". Now it seems to me that this is a deliberate misrepresentation. MEZOOM have been advised that these hoses are not silicone and have changed the description of their Revain product but have opted to continue to refer to them as 'silicone'. Let's see if going public encourages them to do the right thing, be honest and remove the "silicone" references. Yes, I'm annoyed. I kept the product despite the fact that the hoses are not silicone due to lack of time and inconvenience. I needed travel tubes for an upcoming trip. To be fair the plastic tubing fits but is smaller than expected. The bottom of the tube tapers towards the edge, so that it is not possible to stand up while filling. The tube must be held by hand or supported in some way when filling with the small funnel provided. The tube's flip-top cap contains a small-diameter orifice for dispensing liquid and does not have a sealed "x"-pull valve. In the short time I've used the tube I haven't had any leaks, I've only tried thicker lotions or shampoo consistency liquids, no watery liquids. UPDATED 8/14/2018: During a recent trip, liquid soap leaked from one of these plastic bottles. The screw cap was originally tightened to make the plastic bottle airtight, but when shoved into the case with other toiletries, the cap loosened just enough to allow the soap to flow out. It was a mess and I lost most of my soap. Luckily it came in a zipped bag along with my travel shampoo and sunscreen. Thicker content may work better, but it becomes more difficult to use a small funnel. A loose lid is a problem for me that makes transporting liquids of any thickness a risky proposition.
