I have two cats and together they make messes like hairballs and puke on carpets and rugs. I've been using this product for years to get rid of these messes. Usually, after picking up any solids, I wipe the stain down with a little soapy water (clear dish soap) and then apply this product, spraying as directed. This product has never caused discoloration on the various carpets and rugs I've used it on. And after going through this shelf, I had no remnants of dirt or odors. I hope they keep making this product for a long time :)
