This product requires simple assembly. This may not be intuitive to everyone, so I've included images that I hope will be helpful. I use this for my phone (Samsung Galaxy S9) to video chat with friends and for DnD. It's not a problem, but it's worth noting: S9 users must mount (about a finger length) below the power button (otherwise the side buttons are active). I mount it on an IKEA corner table that is about 1.25" thick and sometimes on a drafting table that is about 0.75" thick (when I feel like shooting my art videos). it and tend to see it as an extra feature that doesn't hurt if needed. (At best I only used it once to compensate for the light coming through my window during video chat). It is USB powered and has 3 color settings (one white, another yellow and a setting that mixes the two). The brightness of each color can be adjusted. The keys that control the backlight are backlit (which helped me a lot). I've been using it for about a month and use the mount about 2-3 times a week. I don't use the light often, but currently it still works (I'll report back if it burns out, etc.). So far I haven't noticed any wear and tear on my desk and it works. according to my needs.
