At first I thought I would have to return the product. Avoiding plastic in my water system, I chose this metal housing with a Doulton Ultracarb 10" ceramic filter. When I put the filter in the housing, the housing did not close completely. Crap. I assumed the Aqua Pure- Body would fit standard size DOE cartridges I called Aqua Pure and they told me the housing is valid for 9 3/4" filters (actual height). But even with 9 3/4" filters, you still have to use a compression ring (which pulls the bottom of the housing up) to fully install the bottom. In other words, the goal is to really close the filter internally housing (this is why standard DOE filter cartridges have rubber grommets at the top and bottom). The compression ring doesn't need to be fully tightened for it to work. Or remove the bottom rubber grommet on the ceramic filter and it basically becomes a 9 3/4" filter . And yes! It worked! So all 5 stars! Customer service has repeatedly been great during my research and I found a plastic-free solution PS - I ordered a Pentek ST-1 case and had to return it as there was a rod in the middle preventing my DOE ceramic filter from seating.
