When we first got the tube, our seltzer had a distinctly strong plastic taste. This only seemed to happen if we left the car unused overnight. As a simple fix, we just ran our Sodastream on a pump or two before sparkling our first bottle of the day. This seems to rid the line of any residual flavor and everything tasted fine for the remaining daily bottles. Also, lately if we've forgotten that, I've noticed that the taste of plastic isn't as strong as it used to be. I hope that maybe with time it will go away altogether. All in all it's worth it. A 5 pound CO2 bottle is cheaper in the long run and lasts much longer than 12 ounce cartridges.
