Good, simple clock radio

I needed to replace a worn clock radio and needed something simple and cheap. It filled that need. The numbers are big enough that I can see in the middle of the night without glasses without blinking. The lighting is dim enough not to be distracting. The speakers are quiet and sound cheap, but who cares? I don't listen to good music on this thing and don't even listen to it for more than a few minutes after it's turned off. The snooze button has some raised dots so you can find it by touching it. I found I had to refer to the user guide to install it, which seemed pretty silly. Something about the alarm setting switch caused me to accidentally turn it off a few times before going to bed. And the second alarm can't be set to wake you up with the radio, which seems odd. I want to set the first alarm to wake up on weekdays and the second to wake up on weekends so they both wake up to the radio. But I can handle it. But that's what he usually calls himself: a pretty good, simple clock radio. Unsuccessful update 04/21/12: The electricity went out yesterday when I wasn't at home. I didn't know this because the clock's backup battery was strong enough to keep it from resetting and flashing, but not strong enough to keep correct time. So I didn't know how to reset it, nor did I know it was a two hour break. I ended up waking up much later than I wanted to. So what's the use of having a backup battery if it doesn't show the right time and warns you the time is wrong now? Bad design, Sony.

Pros
  • understandable also for the old
Cons
  • legacy model
