The best chalk paint I've ever used. The only prep I did was warm water with some mild soap to wash the residue off the wood and let it dry for a few minutes. The play I wanted to repeat had been in the family for over 50 years and I was a little worried I might screw it up. However, the paint flattened out and completely covered the paint. At first I thought I would have to apply two coats because the wood was almost a dark cherry color, but I only had to apply one coat! The paint dries evenly but becomes very smooth with a slight sheen after applying a clear wax. I then added dark wax to age the piece. The best part is that if you mess up or apply too much dark wax, you can reapply clear wax. I can't wait to make the other four pieces for this bedroom set! My neighbor also liked the job when she finished and now wants to paint her kitchen cabinets the same color. (see photo before and 2 after)
